This set is a very good value for the money: 1) it is solid wood, which is hard to find at this price point; 2) it is easy to assemble in an hour or two (half of the time is spent unpacking the pieces); 3) it looks really nice; and 4) it is very sturdy.
The downside: the chair seats and table top scratch very easily. Fortunately, I had the forethought to put some additional polyurethane on the table top knowing that it would take a beating. However, I did not put it on the chairs. Within days, they had scratches on them.
I DO recommend this set for the value, but I also highly recommend buying a can of the spray-on polyurethane at your hardware store and spraying a couple coats on the tabletop and seats.

GOOD: Packaging was solid, lots of styrofoam and rigid cardboard. BAD: However, one BIG complaint with the packaging: Industrial staples throughout the bottom of the tabletop, holding straps in place for shipping. I had to use pliers to pull them out one at a time... I think there were 3 dozen... BIG pain the butt. GOOD: As for the table itself, it's fairly heavy and solid... beautiful, too. Good height and diameter... our family of 4 fits comfortably. BAD: The table top scratches easily. GOOD: Assembly was simple... about an hour by myself.
