The Stella side chair, reminiscent of a French brasserie, of days gone past, of sitting around on a lazy Sunday morning in a cafe sipping an espresso and reading the paper. These durable, utilitarian chairs have been around since the early 1930's. They have been a staple in French restaurants and bars since that time due to their timeless styling and practicality. Crafted from steel, the Stella chair will hold up to public use in any restaurant or café. The brushed galvanized finish allows it to be used outdoors as well as indoors but care should be taken to protect it from wet weather for longevity. The steel finish is not recommended for outdoor use as it may develop small surface rust spots in the grooves and joints. Slight surface markings are characteristic of this chair and help to make each chair unique. The legs have protective rubber feet that prevent damage to flooring. Stackable up to 8 high. The Stella Collection is available in a wide range of colors and styles including a side chair, arm chair, table and matching bar stools. Also available in many standard colored finishes.

I purchased these chairs for my restaurant and was a little worried that the quality and construction wasn't going to be good enough to stand up to constant use. I couldn't have been more wrong! The quality of these chairs is exceptional! I thought they might have been too small, but they are perfect and extremely comfortable. I have 4 of the original chairs at my home and these are just as nice and well built. They arrived very quickly and very well packaged. My customers love them as well!

I would highly recommend these chairs to anyone! I am working on a new restaurant and will definitely be ordering more!

Be aware that though these chairs are labeled "galvanized" they are instead lacquered steel. This labeling is not unique to this seller - all internet sites that sell these chairs call them galvanized. Must be a wholesaler problem.

Galvanized steel is dipped in molten zinc which, when it cools, forms surface crystals called spangles - not present in the close up picture seen here. The zinc protects the underlying metal and requires no further treatment (lacquer) to prevent rust.

Galvanized steel requires no weather protection, though prolonged direct ground contact may eventually cause rust.

Having said all that, these are very sturdy, well made chairs. I love the ones I bought, but I had to take them to an industrial galvanization facility (few and far between) to dip them and make them truly weatherproof. If you can find a place, it's not too expensive to do this. I dipped 10 chairs for about $110 dollars - the minimum charge at that plant.

The shipping on these chairs cost $60 for 2 and they took 17 days to be delivered! That is only where the disappointment began. When I unpacked the chairs they looked nice but they are tiny. My husband can not even sit in them. Although the dimensions say "20 x 17.5 x 33.5 inches", the actual seat is 14" x 14". The seat height is also quite low at 17.25". Overall I am very disappointed and I think I am going to sell them and forfeit the $60 shipping fee. Ouch.
